Welcome to the Digital Room
What is it like to live with undiagnosed ADHD? The answer is a complicated one, especially because of how differently the condition affects those who have it. Your experience with ADHD can be based on your gender, and the type of ADHD you have, alongside a large number of external factors involving mental health and state of being. The digital room has the aim of providing an insight into the thought process of someone who may be suffering from undiagnosed ADHD through a creative art project developed in Unity. In this project, you can interact with objects inside of a bedroom where you will be told small bits of information from an unnamed character, all linking to ADHD and how it affects the character within the room. The project covers the difficulties those with undiagnosed ADHD may have with making friends, alongside the struggle with focus, impulsivity and insecurity many people with the condition suffer from.
About: What is the purpose?
Developed to raise awareness of the difficulties people with ADHD may face, the digital room serves as a gateway into how people with ADHD may behave. By interacting with objects within the room, players will gain more information on the character displayed in the room and how their ADHD unknowingly affects their life. Many of the symptoms displayed in the room are subtle, linking to how ADHD is often misdiagnosed as anxiety, especially in women. This project specifically focuses on ADHD in women as they are often less diagnosed than men and are more likely to receive an incorrect diagnosis compared to men, mostly due to them often displaying inattentive traits of ADHD, which are often harder to spot.
